Our Chirp For A Cause Fall Nominees
We are excited to announce the next trifecta of organizations that our clients will be voting for as part of our Chirp For A Cause program. Every year, we vet nonprofits who are doing important work in our community and select a few to consider donating to. Our clients cast votes and the cause with the most votes receives a donation from our team.
While there is only one donation recipient, we hope to bring awareness to all of these important issues and the great work these organizations are doing.
Our current nominees are:
Did you know that more than 100,000 children are trafficked in the US every year, and $99 million is spent on the sex trade annually in North Texas alone? The statistics are staggering — and quite frankly sickening to think about. In addition to fighting to lower and eliminate these statistics, New Friends New Life supports the people behind these numbers. New Friends New Life strives to empower formerly trafficked teen girls and sexually exploited women and their children to rebuild and restore their lives by providing access to education, job training, interim financial assistance, mental health, and spiritual support. To help eliminate trafficking altogether, this organization serves as advocates to drive state and national legislation, establishes partner groups to raise awareness and encourage volunteerism, and partners with other organizations and businesses.
Nothing is more heartwarming than seeing the videos of our military men and women coming home to their families, but sadly that is not the reality for many of our veterans. For some, the sacrifice for our country has resulted in severe injuries including multiple limb amputations, partial or full paralysis, and/or severe traumatic brain injuries. Homes for Our Troops is an incredible organization, that steps in to build and donate specially adapted custom homes for the severely injured post–9/11 veterans. These mortgage-free homes restore some of the freedom and independence these veterans sacrificed while defending our country and enables them to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives. Since 2004, Homes for Our Troops has built 233 specially adapted homes nationwide, with nearly 90 cents of every dollar going directly to the program services for veterans. Here at Chirp, we feel this is an incredible service for some incredible men and women!
The Big C. Few words invoke as much fear as a cancer diagnosis. But the absolute terror of hearing that your child has cancer is devastating. Sadly, that is the reality for more than 15,000 families in the US each year. That’s what makes the work being done by Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer so powerful and worthwhile! At Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer, their mission is to work relentlessly for the day when all children live cancer-free. Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer is a Dallas-based non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness of and funding for pediatric cancer research nationwide.
Additionally, their Buddy Bag Program assists families who receive a pediatric cancer diagnosis and have an immediate and unexpected admission to a pediatric hospital for treatment by providing toiletries, blankets, and comfort items needed for a lengthy hospital stay. Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer’s Ambassador Program hosts special events throughout the year to give children a chance to just be kids and forget about cancer for a few hours each month. Over the years, Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer has served over 300 families through its Ambassador Program.
The voting has begun and we’ll be announcing the lucky winner in the next few weeks. Check back soon to see which of these worthy organizations our clients selected.
